Anna and the Apocalypse is a musical-movie set in the region of Glasgow. It revolves around Anna Shephard (Ella Hunt) who wants to break away from her mundane life, much to the chagrin of her father (Mark Benton). However, she gets more than she bargained for when the dead rise. Soon, Anna and her friends have to contend with zombies, a mentally unstable Head Teacher and lots of singing and dancing.
Like most coming-of-age stories, Anna also has to fight with her best friend (Malcolm Cumming) who is in love with her. Meanwhile, her other friends have their own problems and they’ll discover they can only trust each other.
Anna and the Apocalypse boasts an enthusiastic and incredible soundtrack by Tommy Reilly and Roddy Hart. It’s a soundtrack that will leave the audience dancing one minute, and crying the next. It’s Shaun of the Dead meets High School Musical.
The movie started out as a short movie created by Ryan McHenry. The short movie Zombie Musical won a BAFTA. Unfortunately, Ryan passed and the movie was continued in his memory by his best friend.
Anna and the Apocalypse is the perfect movie for fans of zombies and musicals, or even for those who like good movies.
