‘Justice League Dark’ in Development at Bad Robot

Bad Robot and Warner Media join forces to develop film and television ideas based on DC Comics Justice League Dark. With meeting beginning in the near future, a new film might soon be on the way.

The idea is to brainstorm not only live-action films, but animated films, television series, and spinoffs. No single project is a sure thing at the moment, but the meetings between Bad Robot and writing and talent reps will flesh that out.

Whispers of a Justice League Dark film have swirled for the better part of the last 10 years. Guillermo del Toro and Doug Liman both tried to get a film off the ground, but the project couldn’t gain traction.

In the previous screenplay for, Occultist John Constantine must assemble a group of mystic and arcane heroes in order to save the world from a stolen group of ancient tomes that have the potential to destroy humanity. These heroes would include Swamp Thing, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan the Demon and Madama Xanadu.

A number of other characters joined the team in the comics, including Black Orchid, Doctor Mist, Pandora, Nightmare Nurse, Frankenstein, Shade, the Changing Man, and Andrew Bennett.

It’s no surprise DC wants to pursue a Justice League Dark film, as it seems the studio wants to stick to including smaller world DC films into the DCEU along with the main heroes films.

Matt Ryan previously portrayed John Constantine for NBC and is a fan-favorite casting for any film. Whether the studio will go with him is another story. It goes without saying that he was brilliant in the role.
