Lucasfilm Drops VFX Reel for ‘The Rise of Skywalker’

Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic dropped a visual effects reel for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The reel is quite revealing on a lot of the process that went into making the film, and just how much VFX was used at times.

The reel lays out everything the effects studio went through to bring the film to life. There is more there than just removing wires and and replacing blue and green screens with digitally created backgrounds.

There’s actually a lot of very complicated things happening all throughout the film. Check out the VFX reel for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker below:

Some of the effects shots that impressed me the most were the Luke/ Leia flashback training sequence, and one of the first shots of Leia in the Rebel base.

J.J. Abrams Episode IV concluded the nine film epic storyline of the Skywalker family. The film’s already grossed over $1 Billion at the worldwide box office. It also nabbed three Oscar nominations for Best Original Score, Best Visual Effects and Best Sound Editing.
