It’s a growing trend, but how long will it work? A recent report at Discussing Film indicates that Matt Reeves script for The Batman takes place in the 1990s. The script is in its final stages, only needing refinement.

The film will cast a younger actor in his late twenties to early thirties as Bruce Wayne. Although DC will abandon Ben Affleck’s veteran Batman, the casting call’s age would leave room for a young Dark Knight, still allowing for present-day Bats to be well seasoned.
