Movie Tickets for Only $3 on National Cinema Day in the US and UK

National Cinema Day

If you’ve been looking for a day to go binge-watch all day at your local theater, that day should be September 3. National Cinema Day comes around once a year. This year is the inaugural year for the event. Approximately 95% of all US and UK-based theaters will participate in the festivities.

The event announcement comes courtesy of The Cinema Foundation, a non-profit sect of the National Association of Theater Owners. On September 3, most theaters and cinemas in your area will offer movie tickets for only $3.

This savings carries over into all theater formats, including ScreenX, IMAX, and many others. Over 3,000 theaters in North America will participate in the event. Most major studios, including AMC and Regal, will have ticket prices set to $3. That is over 30,000 screens!

Most screenings that day will feature a number of sizzle reels for upcoming films from studios such as A24, Amazon, Disney, Focus Features, Lionsgate, Neon, Paramount, Sony and Sony Classics, United Artists, Universal, and Warner Bros.

This is a momentous event that looks to change Labor Day history, which traditionally’s the slowest theater day of the entire year. It’s no small secret that although most of the world’s gotten back to normalcy in the wake of Covid-19, theater chains continue to suffer.

Going to the movies is a national and worldwide pastime, and it’s something we should cherish. It’s easier to stream something from home, but a trip to the theater is a special occasion, even if it’s a weekly one for you.

It’s important that you try to make a concerted effort to attend a showing on September 3. Not only for the sake of the savings but for the sake of the event itself. This year’s boasted as a trial run. If successful, the event could cement the day in calendars for years to come.
