How Much of Batman Will Be in ‘Suicide Squad’?

Batman v Superman, Warner Brothers Pictures

One of the most anticipated films of the summer, Suicide Squad looks to be an instant hit for Warner Brothers and DC. Boasting a huge cast full of villains who are expected to do good, it looks like one hell of a ride. With the recent Suicide Squad trailer, fans got a load of new footage, and a lot more Batman. The trailer actually has most people wondering just how much Batman will be in the film.

It was previously thought that Batman would just show up in the film during flashback scenes and mostly involving the first capture of the Joker. Fans of the DC universe are excited to see Ben Affleck donning the cowl of the Dark Knight again so soon, after the release of Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman. Affleck was clearly the best character in the film, and with the recent news that a stand alone Batman film is on the way, more Batman could only be a good thing.

Rumors are beginning to swirl that there may be more Dark Knight in Suicide Squad than previously believed. Talking with FandangoSuicide Squad director, David Ayer spoke about Batman’s presence in the film, and when does SS take place in the DC continuity:

“Just the right amount,” says director David Ayer when we asked how much Batman we’ll get to see in the film. As for when Suicide Squad takes place — before or after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice — and whether it will acknowledge the events of BvS, Ayer was reluctant to go into details, simply saying “the answer to all of the above is yes.”

According to Will Smith, Batman will not just cross paths with the Joker and Harley Quinn, he will also go toe-to-toe with Deadshot.

“The Bat does cross my path… and, ya know, it’s not completely pleasant,”

Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has even stated that Killer Croc will have a run-in with the Caped Crusader.

Suicide Squad hits theaters on Aug 5.
