One of the biggest complaints book lovers have about film adaptations, is it seems that the director and author were on different pages about how things should look on screen. J.R.R. Tolkien alleviated this issue by describing his characters and settings at great length. Although this is a common trait in big Hollywood adaptations, it seems that Ready Player One may not fall into this category.

In a new featurette, the bond between director Steven Spielberg and author Earnest Cline is a strong one. The director and author worked together closely to make sure that Cline’s vision is adapted the way he envisions it. The novel is full of pop culture references, and from the few trailer that have hit, the film will be full of those as well.

Cline was inspired by Spielberg when grew up, and the director’s body of work helped fuel the author’s imagination and inspired him. You can see Spielberg’s direct influences throughout the novel. It was a nice move signing Spielberg to do this film, and it will be interesting to see exactly how he handles the source material. It is interesting to see the dynamic in how they each are using each other to shape this one world.

Spielberg is, by far, one of the best directors of this era.

When the creator of a virtual reality world called the OASIS dies, a video will is released. In the video, he challenges all OASIS users to find his Easter Egg, which will give the finder his fortune. Wade Watts is a young boy who is infatuated with the 1980s, just like the creator of the OASIS. When Watts finds the first clue, the entire world starts a race for the Egg and the prize.
