This ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Review is Spot on and Hilarious

X-Men: Apocalypse, 20th Century Fox

I have followed the film critic Ralphthemoviemaker, for the last year, and his reviews are a bit edgy. He is callous, sarcastic, and keeps Hollywood in check, which is something that you cannot get enough of. You may disagree with me, but he has a very critical stance and lets you know little ways that the films he critic could have been better. His newest review of X-Men: Apocalypse, is another smash hit on his YouTube channel, and completely sums up Ralph’s viewing lens when approaching films.

Ralph is a man of many words. He is very opinionated, and at times, can be a bit overbearing. The one thing that I love about his film reviews, are that he hits very valid points about the flaws of a lot of films. He is not afraid to raise his voice about mistakes that the filmmakers and Hollywood make. Some people say that the beauty is in the details, and Ralph is there to exploit the hell out of them.

Check out his review of X-Men: Apocalypse below:

There is one way to gauge a good critic: count the number of trolls they have, and Ralph has a ton of them. The best things about Ralph’s reviews are that he hits every aspect of film, rom the sound and lighting, to the framing, all the way down to the individual direction of the film. Ralph leaves no stone untouched.

So, What Do I Think About X-Men: Apocalypse?

I agree with a lot of the key points that he makes in his review. Was the film as bad as he makes it, no. Well, maybe, but I am an X-Men fan, so I went in with a bit of prejudice. I do feel that Jennifer Lawrence cashed it in for this movie, and I feel that she just didn’t want to be in it at all. Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy were great in the film, along with Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.

In Addition, I feel that Oscar Isaac was wasted as Apocalypse. Without any drive or purpose, his motivation to take over the world seemed flat and unfinished. Where is all the wonderful characterization and dialog we saw in X-Men First Class, and X-Men Days of Future Past? This film even takes a moment to say that third films in movie franchises are bad. This is technically making fun of themselves, because this is the third ‘new’ X-Men movie. Rule number one: Don’t ever, ever make fun of yourself, and although the quote was meant to poke fun at X-Men Last Stand (because X-Men: Apocalypse wasn’t very good), they just ended up making fun of themselves.
