How Being ‘Daredevil’ Messed Up Charlie Cox’s Chance at Han Solo

Sometime you are just perfect for a role. This is the case with Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock in the Netflix hit series Daredevil. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cox recently revealed that he played the blind Murdock so well, that when he went to a secret audition for a role at Disney, he wasn’t called back because he didn’t make eye contact with the casting director. The worst part about the situation, Cox believes that the role was for the Han Solo spinoff movie.

In a recent interview that Cox had with The Hollywood Reporter, while out promoting his new off-Broadway production Incognito, he revealed that he auditioned for the role of Han Solo in the upcoming spinoff. This is sad news, because Cox would have been an amazing Solo! Cox says:

I had gone to an audition—one of those things that are super secretive and they don’t tell you, but I’m pretty sure it was for the Han Solo reboot—and halfway through it, the casting director stopped me and said, ‘Why aren’t you looking at me?’ I realized I had gotten into a habit of not making eye contact, because the only thing I had done for two years is play someone who is blind. I never got invited back, probably because they couldn’t figure out why I was acting like a complete idiot.

Charlie Cox as Han Solo…Why Not?

I could completely see Cox nailing the part of Solo, with him getting cast and not Alden Ehrenreich. This would have dramatically changed the look of the smuggler. It would be nice to see Cox stretch his acting legs, after the brilliant performance that he does in Daredevil.

Could you see Charlie Cox in a role this big, or will he forever be the ‘Man Without Fear’ in your eyes?
