The pressures that come with taking a mega-role in Hollywood are daunting. It can almost be suffocating. This is the quicksand that Robert Pattinson stepped into when he took the starring role in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
But the actor is well aware of the pressures that come with heading up a big franchise with rabid fans. Pattinson previously starred in both the Twilight Saga and the Harry Potter franchises. It’s easy to say he’s well seasoned in this scenario.
Pattinson recently joked that he’ll do “porn, but art house porn” if he isn’t a good Batman. In a recent interview with The Guardian, Pattinson spoke about the pressures that come with taking one of the biggest roles in Hollywood:
“I felt a connection to it, I don’t know why… I just really wanted it”. He adds that role has a certain ‘power’ and “everyone is attracted to it. It’s an unidentifiable thing.”
He goes on to say that he’s already tired of the questions about it:
“I’m already remembering what it’s like to talk about a movie where there’s an expectation. Whenever you say anything, people are like, ‘Argh! You idiot!’ Like, dude, I haven’t even started yet!…. But there is no harsher critic of myself than myself, so I don’t need to worry about anyone else.”
