SDCC 2022: First Trailer for Marvel’s ‘I am Groot’ Short Series

Marvel Studios dropped the first trailer for a brand new Disney+ television series eloquently titled I am Groot. The series stars, you guessed it, Vin Diesel’s beloved characters from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

The series brings back Groot and over the five-episode series, MCU fans will get to see him grow up. Of course, this period of his life’s riddled with hijinks and misadventures throughout the Galaxy.

Vin Diesel returns to the role of the beloved humanoid tree for the series, with James Gun serving as executive producer. Kristen Leporetakes the helm, while Ryan Little penned the script.

Check out the trailer below:

Episodes are being rendered in an animation style akin to Pixar Studios. While the first five episodes are already complete, Disney+ reportedly ordered an additional 5 episodes.

Groot first appeared in Tales to Astonish #13 in November 1960. Created by Stan Lee, Larry Lieber, and JackKirby, Groot’s an extraterrestrial, sentient, tree-creature, who originally appeared as a villain who attempted to capture humans for experimentation.

In the MCU, only the Guardians of the Galaxy team members, more notably Star-Lord, Rocket Racoon, and Thor are the only characters who understand what Groot says. The rest of us just hear him say, “I am Groot.”
