Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 should be hitting theaters this year. That all changed last year when director James Gunn came under attack from SJW’s upset about 10-year-old tweets. The tweets got Gunn fired from Marvel.

This all happened in August, and the franchise has been on an indefinite hold ever since.

Chris Pratt was asked if a third film would happen at the premiere of
The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. Pratt told Variety:

“I promise there’ll be a third movie, I don’t know exactly what that’s going to look like, but I know everyone on board is just eager to give the fans what they want and wrap up a trilogy in a meaningful way… We’re still circling the city of Jericho, I like to say.”

The entire cast pleaded with Disney to rehire Gunn, and even wrote a letter to fans and the studio in his defense, but the Mouse House did not budge on their stance.

Disney had May 1, 2020 set aside for what was assumed to be Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but now the studio will have to put another film in its place.

There is a few potential films Marvel could tap or May 1, 2020. A few films that come to mind are Black Widow, Doctor Strange 2, The Eternals, or even Black Panther 2. The only issue is that none of these films are in production at the time of this article.
