In 1971, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine and Ed Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn and Roger Perron.

The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known.

Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house’s macabre history.

The Conjuring is the movie that kicked off the franchise and everything rested on it to be a success. Thankfully, it was James Wan (co-creator of SAW) who took the helm and made the movie a success.

It’s at one of the Warrens lectures, where Carrolyn Peron seeks their help regarding an evil entity that’s haunting her family home.

Prior to the beginning of the movie, the Warrens lock Annabelle up in their artifact room. Bathseba, the entity in the Perron house, uses Annabelle on Judy Warren to drag the Warrens away from their investigation.

The Conjuring uses a cheery soundtrack to give a false impression of safety, but as the story continues the soundtrack becomes darker.

It puts the story over scares, and from that it creates a creepier atmosphere and forces audiences to care about the haunted family.

If you’ve yet to see The Conjuring I’d wholly recommend watching it.
