Sony Pictures officially wraps filming for the Resident Evil reboot. The shoot was short, only starting in early November.
The film’s set in 1998, and follows the game franchise closer than its predecessors, abandoning the action genre for classic horror. Milla Jovovich isn’t returning to the franchise.
The Resident Evil reboots helmed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters Down). It looks to completely reboot the film franchise from the beginning. The film follows the original game a lot closer as well, taking place mostly at Spencer Mansion.
Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) stars as Claire Redfield, Robbie Amell (The Babysitter) as Chris Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) as Jill Valentine, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (Now Apocalypse) as Leon S. Kennedy, Neal McDonough (Yellowstone) as William Birkin and Donal Logue (Gotham) as Chief Irons.
The new film hits theaters on September 9, 2021, and drops in addition to a new animated series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness. Infinite Darkness hits Netflix in 2021.
