Kevin Feige is racking up the quotes today, as he is out doing press rounds for the Sony/ Marvel collaboration Spider-Man: Homecoming. According to Feige, don’t expect Marvel to bring characters from the old Spider-Man films into the new movies. According to Feige, Marvel is not wanting to bring any characters from the old films back.
In an interview with HeyUGuys, Feige talks about the vast rogues gallery that Spider-Man has to pull characters from:
“What’s fun about this is it’s the first time Spider-Man is in the MCU. And the first time he’s played by an actor who is the age, essentially, Spidey was in the comics for so long. And, as Michael Keaton does with the Vulture, we get to explore villains we haven’t seen before.
Spidey has an amazing rogues gallery, so at some point I think it might be interesting to revisit some of the characters we’ve seen in films before, but right now, we think there are a lot of new ones we haven’t played with yet.”
Does this mean that we will never get to see them show up? The chances are slim for now. But the Green Goblin family are big characters in the Spider-Man universe, so it will be hard for Marvel to ignore them for too long.
