Review – Millarworld’s ‘Night Club #6’

Night Club #6 is the latest issue of the Millarworld comic about vampires. Mark Millar writes the series while Juanan Ramírez provides the art. It tells the story of Danny Garcia (a teenager) who becomes a vampire and uses his abilities to be a superhero and to try and become a viral sensation online.

However, something darker appears to be afoot.

In the previous issue, Danny and his friends come face to face with the overarching villains. Tears are shed as a familiar face dies. Meanwhile, the trio’s families are in danger.

Night Club #6 doesn’t waste time in getting to the action. From the first panel, you can tell we’re at the finale as it refuses to take a second to breathe. Because of the character arc and build-up from the other issues, it gets away with this and that’s what makes a good story. You have to make sure your characters and plot are strong to provide a satisfying ending. Thankfully, that’s exactly what the Night Club series did and I doubt you’ll be disappointed with the ending.

Juanan Ramirez’s work on the series has kept me gripped by the action, complementing the story as viciously and cerebral as possible. After his work on Night Club, I hope to see him again on another Millarworld entry.

And speaking of seeing again, this might be the end of Night Club (for now?) but we’ll see the characters soon enough. With Big Game bringing the Millarverse together it’s only a matter of time before the vampires sink their teeth into the darkest secret of the world.
