Everything is quiet on the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker front, especially since J.J. Abrams took the reigns of the franchise back from Rian Johnson.
The next film’s only four months away, but little is known about the film. A new rumor may shed light on a new enemy, the Sith Trooper.

In a new report from Making Star Wars, a little light is shed on the mysterious new enemy, The Sith Troopers. According to the report, they are tied to the return of Emperor Palpatine in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
According to the report, the new troopers are hidden away inside a massive fleet” in the Unknown Regions. They are regions of space beyond the known galaxy, and an area of great interest to Palpatine in the recent tie-in novels.
This secret fleet, according to the rumor, is made up of Star Destroyers with ‘planet destroying weapons’. The film reportedly sees Kylo Ren using a device walled the ‘Wayfinder’ to find the ships in order to ‘unlock Palpatine’s legacy.’
This may be exactly how the film will bring Palpatine into the new trilogy. He may not be a physical character, rather he would be flashbacks.
Although it is disheartening to see yet another ‘super weapon’ in the Star Wars universe, it is nice to see the inclusion of things from the novels. There are a lot of questions going into The Rise of Skywalker.
Will Abrams follow the threads that Rian Johnson created, or will he throw them out as Johnson did his own?
