A few weeks ago a rumor surfaced that Disney’s tapping Rosario Dawson to play Ahsoka Tano in the second season of The Mandalorian. It was all just speculation, but Dawson’s the fan-favorite choice for the role.
Tano plays a big part in The Clone Wars animated television series. Unfortunately, Ahsoka’s never made the leap to live-action. She’s one Star Wars character everyone wants to see come to life on the big screen.
In a recent interview with Variety, Dawson says she cannot make any kind of casting confirmation until Disney makes their own announcement. She also addresses the rumors directly, more so her emotions should the studio make the announcement:
“That’s not confirmed yet but when that happens, I will be very happy. I’m very excited for that to be confirmed at some point. [It would be ] a million and one percent because of the fans.
The two universes, Star Trek and Star Wars. I get in those two, I’m telling you, man, that’s it. I will just retire. And then I can just concentrate on going to school and running for office. That would be it.”
Don’t quote me, but her statement sounds a lot like a confirmation.
It’s possible for her to show up in the series. The Mandalorian takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens.
Could Ahsoka Tano still be alive somewhere in the Star Wars universe? It’s very possible.
It’s hard to see Anakin Skywalker’s apprentice do anything less than survive. Did Tano lay low during the events of the Clone Wars and the original trilogy? If brought to the series, Disney should use the moment to explain why she never showed in the franchise earlier.
Filming for season two of The Mandalorian’s already wrapped. The second season’s set to debut on Disney+ sometime in October.
