Warner Bros. released the first footage this week. The trailer explores Scooby-Doo’s early days and the formation of Mystery Inc. The teaser keeps key plot details secret. Instead, it highlights nostalgia, mystery, and friendship.
Scooby-Doo Origins follows Shaggy and Daphne during their final summer at camp. The longtime friends find themselves at the center of a haunting mystery after a lonely Great Dane puppy appears in town. The lost dog may have witnessed a supernatural murder, setting off a chain of events that changes everything.
As the mystery deepens, Shaggy and Daphne join forces with Velma, a practical and science-minded local. They also team up with Freddy, a charming newcomer who brings his own secrets to the group. Together, they investigate a case that pulls them into a terrifying nightmare. The mystery threatens to expose hidden truths and test the friendships that will eventually form Mystery Inc.

The series features an impressive young cast. Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space) stars as Fred, while McKenna Grace (Regretting You) takes on the role of Daphne. Abby Ryder Fortson (Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret) plays Velma, and Tanner Hagen (Xander) steps into the role of Shaggy. Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird) also joins the cast.
Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg created the series after previously working on From and Citadel. Greg Berlanti serves as an executive producer alongside Sarah Schechter, Leigh London Redman, Andre Nemec, and Jeff Pinkner. Warner Bros. Television produces the project.
The production filmed in Atlanta and will debut on the streaming service in 2027. While fans already know where Scooby, Shaggy, Velma, Daphne, and Fred eventually end up, Scooby-Doo Origins promises to reveal how the legendary mystery-solving team first came together.
