J.K. Simmons Comments on His Role in New Script for ‘The Batman’

In the wake of reports that the script for The Batman was to be reworked and possibly scrapped and rewritten, Joe Manganiello came out and said that he is unsure of his role in the new script for the film, but hopes that there is room his character. In  the original script, Manganiello was set to be Deathstroke in the upcoming film, but due to rewrites, his role might get omitted from the script. Another actor set to star in the film may be uncertain of his role in the new script as well.

It is hard to imagine a Batman movie without Commissioner Gordon, but J.K. Simmons is unsure whether he has a place in Matt Reeves new script as well. Simmons will star in Zack Snyder’s Justice League later this Fall as Commissioner Gordon.  In an interview with Screen Crush, he seems to think Commissioner Gordon has a place in the new script, but is still unsure:

“My part in the first film coming out this Fall is very, very small… It’s a little introduction of the character. But whenever the next one gets off the ground, whether it’s ‘The Batman’ movie or the ‘Justice League’ sequel, and I know those things are getting shuffled around right now … we thought we might be getting to work pretty soon on ‘The Batman,’ but we’ll see what the future brings. Hopefully that’ll be another comic-book character that I get to take two or three or four cracks at.”

The Batman had a shooting date set for the next few months, but that is almost certain to be pushed back. Current rumors say that shooting will be pushed back until late 2017/early 2018, putting the film opening sometime in 2019.

Do you think that Joe Manganiello and J.K. Simmons will end up in the new script for The Batman.
