Back in August news broke Marvel Studios and Sony were parting ways with their Spider-Man deal. Fans were understandably upset Tom Holland’s Peter Parker would break off from the MCU.
According to an article on Deadline, fans don’t need to fear that anymore. Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are co-producing the third Spider-Man movie with Sony Pictures.
The film is releasing on July 16, 2021.
“I am thrilled that Spidey’s journey in the MCU will continue, and I and all of us at Marvel Studios are very excited that we get to keep working on it,” said Kevin Feige.
“Spider-Man is a powerful icon and hero whose story crosses all ages and audiences around the globe. He also happens to be the only hero with the superpower to cross cinematic universes, so as Sony continues to develop their own Spidey-verse you never know what surprises the future might hold.”
As part of the deal, Spider-Man is going to be in another Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. However, there’s no word on what the movie will be yet.
In the latest Spider-Man installment Far From Home, Mysterio (Jake Gyllenhaal) exposes the hero’s secret identity. Although, it isn’t only Mysterio who exposes his identity.
Reprising his role from the Sam Raimi movies, J.K Simmons returns as J. Jonah Jameson. This time the Daily Bugle editor is a podcaster who hates Spider-Man.
With Spider-Man back in the MCU, the identity reveal storyline will continue and we will hopefully see more of J.K Simmons!
