‘Star Wars’ Characters Who Need to Come to Live-Action

Lost Stars

We’ve covered Star Wars’ answer to Indiana Jones, but what about the Star Wars equivalent of Romeo and Juliet?

2015’s Lost Stars, written by Claudia Grey, gave us just that. Published as a Young Adult novel, and one of the first releases of the new canon, the book saw the oft-adapted Shakespearean tale reimagined for a galaxy far, far away.

Thane Kyrell and Ciena Ree, childhood friends turned star crossed lovers, are the main characters of the book. We follow them right through the events of the Original Trilogy.

Both begin fighting for the Empire, but as one of them starts to doubt the Imperial intentions and defects to the Rebellion, their relationship is truly put to the test.

It’s a wonderful book, and a story that has yet to be continued in any way; there’s still no word of a sequel. Despite being important characters in the world of Star Wars, Thane and Ciera have currently only appeared in Lost Stars.

Without spoiling anything, the end of the novel doesn’t completely wrap up their respective storylines. It would be great to see their story continued in some way, and live action would be a great way to do that.

The story of the novel is so cinematic that a big-screen adaptation of it might be a great way to put these characters out there to a wider audience. They also play a huge part in the Battle of Jakku, a very important event in the new canon which we’ve yet to see fully realised.

If Lucasfilm decides to explore this, it would make sense to include the two fan favorites on screen.
