For three films, actress Kirsten Dunst was known as playing the love interest of Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) in Sam Raimi’s trilogy of “Spider-Man” films. So, it comes as a bit of a shock to hear her lashing out at Tom Holland’s revamped version of Spider-Man. Ever since Spider-Man went a different direction, Dunst has not been interested in the franchise. She has gone on record to say that both Holland’s version and Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man were just “milking that cow for money.”

Tom Holland has reacted to Dunst’s snide comments about the new Spider-Man franchises in a way that only a superhero can. In an interview with Movie’n’co UK, Holland said:

“I read it and I saw it. You know, she’s entitled to her own opinion and I’m not one to judge at all. I definitely am not doing this movie for the money. I mean, it’s a job that I think anyone would do regardless of what you were getting paid, you know? All I know is I’ve had the greatest time on this movie and I’ve absolutely loved it and, you know if she doesn’t want to go and see it, I don’t really care. But yeah, I don’t dislike her in any way for what she said and she’s entitled to her own opinion, so it’s all cool.”

With Marvel’s recent influence on the Spider-Man franchise, Peter Parker is once again a success. With the film pulling in over $630 million worldwide, Tom Holland is here to stay. He is the most accurate version of the character to ever grace the silver screen. Holland and Marvel’s version of the web-slinger is here to stay.

Homecoming’s cast includes Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Donald Glover, Jacob Batalon, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Tyne Daly, Bokeem Woodbine, with Marisa Tomei, and Robert Downey Jr. It also includes Jon Favreau, Martin Starr, Kenneth Choi, Michael Mando, Selenis Leyva, Isabella Amara, Jorge Lendeborg, Jr., JJ Totah, and Hannibal Buress.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently in theaters.
