‘Tomorrow War 2’: Amazon Studios Green Lights Sequel
In spite of mixed reviews, Amazon Studios and Skydance are already eying a potential sequel to the sci-fi hit The Tomorrow War. The news comes just a week after the film hit the Amazon Prime streaming service.
Initial plans are for director Chris McKay, screenwriter Zach Dean and most of the main cast (Chris Pratt, Yvonne Strahovski, Sam Richardson, Betty Gilpin, Edwin Hodge and J.K. Simmons) to all return.
Reviews for the film are mixed at-best, but it was a huge hit with audiences. The Tomorrow War sits at just 54% on Rotten Tomatoes. In spite of the reviews, it was a huge success for Amazon. With a budget of $200 million, it seems Amazon’s going all in on the Chris Pratt-led blockbuster.
Tomorrow War was definitely a change from the normal trend of Amazon focusing on comedy.
