If you’re looking for a movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat this Halloween, look no further than Don’t Breathe.
Starring Jave Levy and with Fede Álvarez in the Director’s chair, Don’t Breathe is an instant hit. Add in Stephen Lang and Dylan Minette and you have a recipe for a thrilling Horror.
The plot seems thin at first blush: three robbers have the opportunity of a lifetime. There’s at least $300,00 in a house owned by a blind war veteran. However, it soon turns from a heist to a night of survival in a locked house.
It’s Stephen Lang who brings humanity to the role of the war vet and implores the audience to empathize with him. He lost his daughter years ago due to Manslaughter and now he’s being robbed of the money he gained from it.
That humanity is quickly taken away when we realize there’s a dark secret he’s keeping in his basement. You’ll need to watch it to find out what it is, but suddenly he’s no longer an empathetic character.
It’s the robbers who we are now rooting for. It helps two out of the three are three-dimensional and get a look-in at their reasons for robbing. Jane Levy gives an acting masterclass throughout where you’ll leave wanting more from her.
If you have yet to see Don’t Breathe, I recommend it as it will take your breath away.
