Ben Affleck-Directed Batman Film May Have Its Setting

Now that the world has had its time to panic about the disaster that Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was in theaters, then calm down when they saw the director’s cut on home video, it is time to focus on the future for the DC Cinematic Universe.

Recent rumors are surfacing that indicate that the setting for the Ben Affleck directed Batman movie might be set. According to Batman on Film, they have sources that show that the film will be set within the walls of the Arkham Asylum. Fans will know Arkham, because this is the place that Batman has always locked up all of his villains. This is the very place where every Batman villain sits and thinks about the next time they will meet the Dark Knight.

The film is in its early stages of production, so this could just be an idea being kicked around. The reports go on to say that Batman could be the one locked in the Asylum this time. It is unknown whether his intentions were to enter the Asylum on purpose or has he been wrongly convicted of a crime. The report goes on to say that although it won’t be a direct adaptation, the film will be like Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on a Serious Earth and Batman: Arkham Asylum video game.

Plotting and Planning…

Ben Affleck is helming the Batman standalone film, as well as serving as the executive producer for the Justice League films. Affleck will “work with Chris Terrio, his screenwriter from Argo and Batman v Superman, to fine-tune the script, and he will also inform the post production process”, according to a report from the The Hollywood Reporter
