‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 2 Retrospective
Only Murders in the Building is a Hulu original series starring Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez. It was co-created by Steve Martin and John Hoffman and features an impressive cast of regulars and guest stars. The series also boasts electric writing, clever misdirects and hilarious moments that leave the audience craving more. Unfortunately, season 2 recently finished and it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing more of the Arconia residents until 2023.
However, in the meantime, there’s a lot to digest with the revelations from the final two episodes of season 2. Be aware this article will delve deep into spoilers so if you haven’t seen the episodes (or even the series) yet, this is your time to do it. Your life will change (for the better) when you hear the first note of Siddhartha Khosla’s fantastic opening title music.
Before we talk about the end of season 2, we need to go back to the finale of season 1. The trio finally discovered who killed Mabel’s (Selena) former friend Tim Kono (Julian Cihi). One week later, they’re still toasting their victory when Mabel decides to get another bottle of champagne. We later discover this bottle was given to the trio by Arconia board president Bunny Folger (Jayne Houdyshell).
While Mabel’s away, Charles (Steve) and Oliver (Martin) receive a text telling them to get out of the building as sirens wail. Before leaving, they hurry to Mabel’s aunt’s apartment. It’s there they find Mabel caked in blood and leaning over the body of the murdered Bunny Folger. This sets up the cliffhanger leading into season 2. Before we get to that though, let’s take a look at who Bunny Folger is.
