Christian Bale will always be Batman in the hearts and minds of fans everywhere, but that doesn’t mean that the actor is in any hurry to return to the superhero genre any time soon. In a recent interview with Collider, while promoting his new film The Promise, Bale stated that he is not fond of superhero films:

“I’m not interested in doing that. I’ve never seen – I’m trying to think if that’s correct, I think I’m actually correct, I can’t remember a single superhero film that I’ve ever watched. Apart from the ones I made, and like, the Christopher Reeve ‘Superman’ films… I have no understanding of it and I’m completely blind to it.”Bale’s comments might be a bit cold. It isn’t hard to believe that the comics and superheroes genre were not always part of pop culture. Bale’s reaction and exposure to the genre comes as no surprise. He even turned down reprising the role of Batman in the Zack Snyder DC cinematic universe.

In other Batman related news, a new documentary about the late Australian actor Heath Ledger will air on Spike TV. Ledger played The Joker in the Chris Nolan’s The Dark Knight opposite Christian Bale, and at the time of the film’s release, it was believed that it was the role of The Joker that made Ledger depressed, leading to his eventual death. This is not the case according to his sister Kate Ledger. In a heated statement to EW, Kate stated that wasn’t the case with Heath:

“[Heath] wasn’t depressed about the Joker, it was the absolute opposite. [He] had an amazing sense of humour, and I guess maybe only his close family and friends really knew that, but he was having fun.”

The documentary titled I am Heath Ledger airs on May 17 ahead of the disc release on May 23.
