MCU fans want to know where the studio is headed to in the future. Phase 4 is a big mystery, but a few tidbits are coming to the surface about possible future MCU films. One character perfect for a big screen adaptation is Ms. Marvel
In a recent tweet, Mindy Kaling (The Mindy Report) confirmed to MTV News that she spoke with Marvel Studios about making a Ms. Marvel movie or television show:
I think the people I’ve spoken to Marvel about it are so excited about the character and I think that they’re trying to figure out what to do with it, and, I told them I would help in any way because I truly love her.
They really seemed interested, and I think they will probably do something. Now that there’s like this streaming service with them, it might be something like that, but I think they understand how much there is the excitement.
A television series would be great, but the ultimate goal is a film. Although she is fairly new to comics, the character would add to the MCU’s ever-expanding diverse group of heroes.
Kamala Khan was created by Kelly Sue DeConnick and Scott Hepburn. She first appeared in Captain Marvel Vol. 4 Issue 14. Kamala is a huge superhero fan who gained powers after being encased in a cocoon from Terrigen Mists.
She wanted to become Captain Marvel, and when she broke out, she was. Khan has shape-shifting abilities, and eventually returned her appearance to her original form, and taking on the persona of Ms. Marvel.
Kamala is a champion of minority heroes, quickly winning the hearts of Muslim readers everywhere. She is a character that adds depth to the racial palette of the MCU.
