After years of rumors, speculation, leaks and teases, Warner Bros. Montreal have officially announced their next game; ‘Gotham Knights’.
The game sees Robin, Batgirl, Red Hood and Nightwing step up to the fray following the apparent death of Bruce Wayne.
The trailer and gameplay have a strong focus on teamwork, and we see Batgirl and Red Hood teaming up to take down a nameless thug.
Co-Op has also been confirmed for the game, but to which capacity remains unclear. Online multiplayer isn’t entirely foreign to Batman video games; ‘Batman: Arkham Origins’, also by Warner Bros Montreal, is the only game to use it thus far.
It looks as though the game is in a separate continuity from the Arkham games. Not much is known currently in terms of story. All we know is that Bruce Wayne is dead, and a new threat faces Gotham. What is that new threat? The Court of Owls.
First introduced in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s New 52 run, the Court of Owls were a dangerous secret organization with deep ties to Gotham’s past.
Fans loved them upon release, and will no doubt be delighted about the announcement of their inclusion.
‘Gotham Knights’ releases sometime 2021, presumably for next-gen consoles.
