Jeremy Renner Got Seriously Injured During a Stunt on the Set of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

For actors who choose to do their own stunts, they take their careers into their own hands. Just ask Jeremy Renner, who came out on the wrong end of a stunt recently on the set of Avengers: Infinity War. The actor says that he broke both arms performing the stunt, but that it won’t keep him down for very long. How about that for determination?

Renner gave a short interview at a Karlovy Vary Film Festival press conference. He says that he fractured his right elbow and left wrist doing the stunt. Runner says:

“That’s how it goes, it’s part of the job. I’m sort of a problem solver, you know. There will be an effect to it, but it won’t stop me from doing things that I need to be doing… I’ll heal fast. I’m doing everything I can to heal faster.

I’m doing a job Tag that isn’t really requiring a ton of stunts. It’s not an action movie; it’s a comedy. It just happens to have a few stunts in it. So I don’t have to beat a whole lot of people up or do anything crazy. So it won’t really affect my job….It affects how I get dressed in the morning. I can’t tie my shoes, but outside of that and everything else, I can kind of get by.”

Renner ist the first actor to get injured on the set, and far from the first to do their own dangerous stunts. Tom Cruise is famous for pulling his own stunts in the Mission Impossible films. Renner recently began shooting a new comedy called Tag, which is the new job he referred to during the interview.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows. A despot of intergalactic infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment — the fate of the Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.
