Star Wars: The Last Jedi is one of the most-anticipated films left this year. With the recent trailer release earlier this week, anticipation is boiling over for any morsel of information about Rian Johnson’s next Star Wars installment. One big question on everyone’s mind following the trailer launch, was about the pivotal scene from the trailer that saw Kylo Ren possibly going in to blow up his mother’s (General Leia) ship.

So, what will Carrie Fisher’s role in The Last Jedi be? Some fans believe that She will be killed off in the franchise, due to her recent passing. Mark Hamill spoke to fans at New York Comic Con about his close friend (Fisher) and about her role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi:

You’re going to really love her in [The Last Jedi]. I know they’re going to try to find a way to close her story in [Episode IX] that gives her the respect she deserves, because [Han Solo] was more prominent in [The Force Awakens], Luke’s a little more prominent in [The Last Jedi], and certainly Leia was meant to be more prominent in [Episode IX]. Worldwide, everyone feels that gap she left, but we all have to hang in there.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Domhnall Gleason, Daisy Ridley, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac.

The Last Jedi continues right where The Force Awakens left off, where Finn is in a medical coma, Poe Cameron and the rest of the Resistance is celebrating the destruction of StarKiller Base, and Rey has just found Luke Skywalker. Will Skywalker train Rey, or could she become tempted by the Dark Side of the Force? With Supreme Leader Snoke finishing Kylo Ren’s training, will the young Sith become too powerful for anyone in the galaxy to defeat?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters on December 15.
