It must be an awe-inspiring thing to look back on 40 years of career and know that if it wasn’t for that one lucky break, none of it could’ve happened. Mark Hamill wrote a thank you letter to all fans of Star Wars, from newcomers to the die-hard.
The letter drops in copies of The Skywalker Saga boxed set that hit store shelves today. It’s full of nostalgic reminisce and references to things long scrapped in the franchise. The message Hamill writes is one that’s deeply personal and heartfelt.
If you know anything about Mark Hamill and his tenure on Star Wars, you’ll know that he’s deeply appreciative to the fans, and extremely passionate about the story.
The Rise of Skywalker marks the end of his time with Star Wars. Hamill drops the full letter via his Twitter account. The letter touches you right in the feels. He writes:
Star Wars is about family, and that is what we all have become – one giant community that shares the experience of these stories and the fundamental value they instill in us.”
Star Wars is all about family. He is right. This is something that’s been lost recently amongst the fanbase. The release of two core tales that divided the fanbase, The Rise of Skywalker and The Last Jedi sparked the separation, but all is not lost.
Hamill reminds us all that we are one epic journey, together, as the franchise continues to strive forward and grow. He writes:
“I am deeply thankful for all your continued enthusiasm and dedication to George’s faraway galaxy, which will continue to grow with new storytellers building an even bigger gallery, filled with heroes, villains, action, romance, and, of course, The Force.”
