In a big surprise, Marvel has dropped the first trailer for Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The trailer looks great, so why is it such a surprise that we are getting a trailer right now? The film just wrapped shooting last week. It is hard to believe that everything was ready for this trailer drop, but here it is, in glorious high-definition!
Check out the trailer below:
On first viewing, this trailer looks great. This will be Marvel’s first big step towards the magic side of their universe. (We can count the Scarlet Witch in Avengers Age of Ultron, but I am not yet). My first impressions were that Benedict Cumberbatch was a perfect casting for Stephen Strange, but after seeing him come to life in this trailer, I am shrieking in anticipation for this movie. It looks as though Marvel will have another hit on their hands.
Doctor Strange looks to bend reality with the few glimpses of settings that we will see in the film. It is safe to assume that Strange’s world will look a lot like the micro verse that we saw during Ant-Man. They are also reminiscent things we have seen in Inception and Interstellar.
Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Marvel will be opening a pandora’s box, when Strange hits theaters. Stephen Strange is a major hitter in the Marvel universe and is one of the most powerful heroes in their catalog.
The film is directed by Scott Derrickson, and stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Strange, The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton), Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Christine Palmer, a.k.a. Night Nurse (Rachel McAdams), Wong (Benedict Wong).
Doctor Strange hits theaters on November 4, 2016.
