‘Spider-Man’: Ideas for Insomniac’s Gaming Universe

Spider-Man: Venom

As mentioned in the previous page, there’s a chance Venom is coming to the Spider-Man series. If that happens, it could lead to giving him his own game. Of course, it’s an idea that might not sound popular. Yet, we need to remember the character’s second live-action movie is releasing in 2021.

It isn’t a jump to think Venom can receive his own game. Players of the Ultimate Spider-Man game will remember playing as him and Spider-Man in that game.

But what would the story be? What villain would he be put up against?

The Venom movie has him go against Riot, another symbiote. A second symbiote would be a fun villain, but someone like Riot wouldn’t be good enough. That’s why I propose the major villain of Spider-Man: Venom would be Cletus Kasady, also known as Carnage.

Carnage will be the villain in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and is played by Woody Harrelson. Before bonding with the symbiote, Cletus is a serial killer with no remorse.

Mixing the symbiote with him, he becomes an unstoppable killing machine.

Putting Venom against Carnage softens the former’s personality. Where Venom seems like a villain, Carnage is on another level. Setting it in the same universe as Spider-Man means there needs to be a reason Peter and Miles aren’t there.

That’s where I take a leaf from the Venom movie’s book. Eddie Brock leaves the Daily Bugle after the events of Spider-Men and moves to another city.

As Venom, Eddie becomes the ‘hero’ of that city but his methods are more brutal than Spider-Man’s.

Using Venom as the protagonist also gives the developers a fresh way of looking at the Spider-Man mythos. Everything set-up in the previous games in terms of gameplay and side missions can be turned on its head. This is a way to make the game fresh.

This would be great since Spider-Man: Miles Morales story is very similar to Spider-Man. While that isn’t a knock on the game, it’d still be nice to have something different. With Venom, this can be the case.

Next – Spider-Woman
