‘Spider-Man’: Ideas for Insomniac’s Gaming Universe

Spider-Verse

If there’s one thing Spider-Man has over other Marvel characters, it’s the multiverse. In the comics, Peter Parker and Miles Morales exist on different Earths but in this continuity they are in the same. What if these two characters are forced out of their comfort zone? What if Peter and Miles are pulled to another Earth?

This is where the Spider-Woman game comes in. By introducing this new Earth, it helps to set-up the grand event. Spider-Verse can be a multiplayer of up to four players taking control of fan-favorites.

There are plenty of stories that can force the characters together.

The playable characters would include Peter Spider-Man, Miles Spider-Man, Gwen Spider-Woman, Spider-Man Noir and Silk. They are brought together by Madame Webb to defeat Morlun, an Entity who wants to destroy all Spider-People across the multiverse.

Earth-65 Gwen Stacy and Cindy Moon, Silk, were introduced in the Spider-Verse arc with Morlun in the comics. So, it’s a nice nod to that by including them, and it expands the diversity of the Spider-Verse.

It’s true a Spider-Verse game has happened in the past. Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions features the Amazing Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man Noir and the Ultimate Spider-Man. It sees the four Spider-Men teaming-up to fix the multiverse after one of them ripped it open.

But, it’s a game that is difficult to get. After losing their license, the Activision game is no longer available. So, releasing an updated version with more playable characters wouldn’t be a bad idea.

It’d also give Marvel a game to contend with the upcoming DC team-up games Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available to play on the PS4 and PS5 now. Spider-Man: Remastered is also available, and comes packaged with Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
