Spider-Man Spin-Off ‘Silver & Black’ Delayed Indefinitely

The Spider-Man spin-off Silver & Black has been set back indefinitely by Sony Pictures. The setback could be significant since the film doesn’t yet have a script. Silver & Black was the second spin-off planned by Sony Pictures. The film faces a long delay, but it comes as no surprise, since there is no cast set, and writers have only recently been brought aboard.

Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider) were brought in to handle the script. Reports of the delay come, via That Hashtag Show.

The script has gone through a number of hands, director Gina Prince-Bythewood, Chris Yost (Thor: Ragnarok), and Lisa Joy (Westworld) all had a crack at it. Silver & Black was supposed to begin filming in Atlanta this March, but with the film set back, no new date has been scheduled. Sony Pictures is still eyeing a February 8, 2019 release date, but this date could see a setback as well. The film remains a priority for Sony Pictures.

Silver Sablinova, aka Silver Sable, is a bounty hunter working for the U.S. government. Sable has her sights set on Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat, a high-end burglar who has stolen from tons of people who now want to take her down.

The first Spider-Man spin-off, Venom, starring Tom Hardy hits theaters on October 5. Silver & Black is currently set for a February 8, 2019.
