On April 12, Disney released the first look at the final entry in the Skywalker saga. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker looks to be an explosive finale, which sees the return of Emperor Palpatine.
During the weekend, Disney unveiled a sizzle reel of the upcoming movie and audiences need to wait no more to see it for themselves.
Take a look at it below:
The sizzle reel begins with footage from the original Star Wars trilogy and its prequels. It leads up to the recent movies and embeds the newly released footage from The Rise of Skywalker with it.
Once again, Rey and Kylo Ren are at odds but it also shows a battle that very well could be the battle to end all battles. There is also a surprising shot of C-3PO with red eyes, furthering speculation on what it means for him.
As the Emperor’s voice rings throughout, an ominous tone teases the Skywalker Saga won’t end in a happy way.
If that’s not enough, the reel finishes with a surprising shot of Rey in a cloak and wielding a double-sided red lightsaber.
What this means for Rey’s future is uncertain, but let’s hope it doesn’t lead to her giving in to anger.
Along with the teaser footage, the official poster for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is also here.
The poster shows a fight between Rey and Kylo Ren, but above them looms the leader of the former Empire, Emperor Palpatine. His role in the movie is still unclear but whenever Palpatine is around, it’s fair to say there can’t be a happy ending.
