Lambert

Geralt isn’t the only Witcher but he is the most popular. At the end of season one, he mentions needing to go to Kaer Morhen, the home of the Witchers. One of those Witchers we’ll see in season one is Lambert. Fans of the books and game will know Lambert by the saying “Lambert, Lambert, what a p***k”.

The saying is so due to his rude demeanor and his ability to brush everyone off. He despises being a Witcher since it’s a choice out of his control and is also jealous of Geralt. His jealousy comes from Geralt being the most famous of the Witchers and having it work for him.

Portraying Lambert is Paul Bullion. His other credits include Peaky Blinders, Dracula Untold, The Bastard Executioner and the upcoming Dune remake.

Eskel

Unlike Lambert, Eskel is closer to Geralt. He has a softer side and isn’t wound up as easily as Lambert. Eskel became a Witcher at the same time as Geralt so the two grew up together. It isn’t hyperbole to say he’s Geralt’s best friend, or at least was before a certain Bard came onto the scene.

According to Ciri in the books, Eskel resembles Geralt except for his hair color and a large scar disfiguring his cheek. He finds solace in making jokes about how he looks. It’s even been said by Triss Merigold that Eskel has stronger magic than Geralt.

Danish actor Thue Ersted Rasmussen is playing Eskel. His previous credits are mostly TV series Sunday, Sygeplejeskolen and Norskov. However, he’ll be appearing in the next entry in the Fast and Furious series.

Coen

Coen spends his first winter in Kaer Morhen when Ciri arrives to train with Geralt. He uses his facial hair to hide various illnesses he contracted before he became a Witcher. Only fans of the books will recognize Coen as he doesn’t appear in the games. However, he is mentioned in the first Witcher game.

He’s described to Geralt as a master swordsman. Other than this there’s not much else to go on with Coen. Sadly, Coen meets his untimely end during a war, even though Witchers aren’t supposed to sign up for them.

Yasen Atour brings Coen to the series. He is known for Ben-Hur, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation and Robin Hood.

Vesemir

As of the 28th of February, the casting grows as Vesemir’s actor has been announced. Vesemir is the leader of the Witchers at Kaer Morhen and a father surrogate to Geralt. In the source material, he plays a hand in training up young Ciri and does so with a heart of gold.

Vesemir is the second most popular Witcher, just behind Geralt, and is a fan-favorite. Since the rumblings of his appearance in season two began, fan casting has suggested Mark Hamill for the role. However, those fans will be disappointed to learn it isn’t him.

Instead, Netflix has cast an actor from Killing Eve in the role. Kim Bodnia, who plays Konstantin, in Killing Eve will be coming to season two as the loveable uncle Vesemir. It’ll be interesting to see his take on it as he’s proven in Killing Eve he’s able to switch between a funny father-type to somebody you don’t want to cross.
