Nivellen
Nivellen is a Redanian who lives in an isolated manor. Villagers use his apparent monstrous appearance to scare the local children into behaving. However, Geralt believes otherwise once he meets him and realizes his Witcher abilities can’t harm him.
His story is a darker take on the Beast from Beauty and the Beast. He is coerced by a group of robbers he hangs with to commit a terrible deed on a woman. Unluckily for him, the woman casts a curse on him to turn him into a monster before she dies.
His parallels with the Beast don’t stop there as he also stops a man from stealing a Rose from his garden and ends up with a woman once a year who stays with him. The man undertaking the role of Nivellen is no stranger to the world of Fantasy.
Game of Thrones fan-favorite Kristofer Hivju brings Nivellen to life in season two of The Witcher. His role in Game of Thrones was that of Tormund Giantsbane. His other credits include the remake of The Thing and The Fate of the Furious.
Vereena
Vereena becomes the only woman who loves Nivellen and looks past his appearance. Their relationship is a strange one for them though as she doesn’t talk much and when she does it’s in a language Nivellen doesn’t understand.
She chooses to stay with Nivellen and that is all that can be said on her without delving into further spoilers. Agnes Bjorn will bring Vereena to the Netflix series. She doesn’t seem to have previous credits as there’s no IMDb page for her. The Witcher could very well be her first credit.
That is the casting for season two so far. Rumors suggest we will also see the introduction of Emhyr Van Emreis, the Emperor of Nilfgard. However, there’s no word on who’ll be cast in that role. As he voiced the character in The Witcher III: Wild Hunt fans are hoping to see Charles Dance in the role. Only time will tell who will play the Nilfgardian Emperor.
The Witcher Season Two is thought to release sometime in 2021.
