‘Wandavision’: Comics to Read After Watching the Series

Monica Rambeau has several alter-egos in the comics; Photon, Spectrum and Captain Marvel. Yes, Monica uses the same name as Carol Danvers at one point. Her first appearance is in Amazing Spider-Man Annual #16 (1964). Spider-Man thinks she’s a villain but when he realises the truth, she ends up becoming an Avenger.

Her original name is Captain Marvel but she changes to Photon when the son of Mar-Vell wants the name. Even though the MCU shows Carol as the first human Captain Marvel, Monica is the first.

Avengers: The Legacy of Thanos

Avengers: The Legacy of Thanos (Roger Stern) sees Monica investigates Sanctuary II, Thanos’ abandoned ship. There she finds Nebula who wants to conquer the Skrulls.

Monica joins forces with the Avengers, the Fantastic Four and the Skrulls to stop Nebula in her intergalactic quest.

Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E

After leading the Avengers for a spell, Monica becomes the leader of a misfit group. Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E is by Warren Ellis and gives Monica a new spotlight.
