Until Dawn
If you’ve heard of The Quarry, House of Ashes, Man of Medan or Little Hope you’ve probably also heard of Until Dawn. This game is a cinematic experience where you make the decisions. Every character can live or every character can die. It’s up to you what happens. Most of the action in the game is through quick-time events. These events can be the difference between life and death.
When you control a character, you can only walk around and pick things up. Also, there’s a specific gameplay mechanic that makes the game more suspenseful. If you move the controller, the character moves and they die. Either you need a steady hand or be ready for it to happen and sit your controller somewhere.
It boasts a very impressive cast. Hayden Panitette, Jordan Fisher, Rami Malek, Brett Dalton, Meaghan Martin, Nichole Sakura, Galadriel Stineman and Noah Fleiss star. What’s more, you get to play as nearly all of them too. Moving onto the story, Until Dawn focuses on what happens a year after a prank goes wrong. It sees the friends returning to the scene of the crime. It starts as a slasher as an imposing masked figure stalks them.
However, as the game progresses, everything is not what it seems. It’s a bone-chilling story that leaves you in constant fear. Moreover, considering what date it was released, the graphics are great. They look exactly like the actors who play them. Unfortunately, it pushes into an uncanny valley at times but when it doesn’t, it’s amazing.
