#1 Rosemary’s Baby (1968)
Rosemary’s Baby is a subtle study on horror, intelligent and intentional. Roman Polanski made Rosemary’s Baby in the height of the satanic cult rage in America. It capitalizes on the social anxieties and fears of cults, and brings them to the screen. This film leaves you with one looming question: Did any of it happen, or was the entire story in Mia Farrow’s head? There is a lot of things awry in this movie, from the chilling score, to the actors, and can anyone explain to me why the Manhattanites are so damn creepy? Rosemary’s Baby is the best horror film I have ever seen, and takes the top spot on this list.
Do yourself a favor, this Halloween, if you have never seen Rosemary’s Baby or any of the other films on this list, check them out. You can even have a marathon. You will not be disappointed.
