‘The Last of Us’ Casts HBO Alums as Joel and Ellie

The Last of Us is one of the biggest video games, which is only exclusive to the Playstation. The first game follows Joel and Ellie, as they travel across the country 20 years after the mutant Cordyceps fungus turns people into zombie-like creatures.

Joel’s mission to get Ellie to the main Firefly headquarters. She is the only person who can’t get infected. Realising, she’ll die when experimented on, Joel stops at nothing to protect her at all costs.

The second Last of Us game opens up five years later. Ellie has grown-up and someone connected to their past wants revenge. While it’s controversial, Last of Us Part II is one of the biggest selling games of all time.

It also cleaned up at the The Game Awards.

It’s unknown if there’ll be a third game, but a show on HBO is in development. Finally, we know who will play Joel and Ellie.

Revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, Bella Ramsey will be taking on the role of Ellie. Game of Thrones fans will remember her as Lyanna Mormont, the Lady of Bear Island.

She’s also been given the seal of approval by Ellie’s voice actor, Ashley Johnson. Her other credits include His Dark Materials, Hilda and the reboot of The Worst Witch.

A rumor suggested Mahershala Ali is playing Joel. However, it turns out he was offered the role but turned it down. Not to fear though as another big name is attached to the character.

He’s another Game of Thrones alum, who’s just about everywhere you look these days. From Wonder Woman 84 to The Mandalorian, there’s no stopping the rise of Pedro Pascal.

His two years on The Mandalorian makes him no stranger to playing a character whose purpose becomes smuggling a child. His other credits include: Narcos, We Can Be Heroes and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
