What’s Next For ‘Star Wars’ in Wake of ‘Skywalker’?
Rian Johnson Trilogy
Back in November of 2017, Rian Johnson took to Twitter to announce plans to make his own trilogy, completely separate from the main saga.
Johnson pitched the series to Lucasfilm whilst in production on Episode VIII: The Last Jedi as one story told over multiple movies. He also promised that the films will take us to new places and characters never before seen in Star Wars.
The divisive response to The Last Jedi from fans no doubt attributed to the slowing down of progress on the movies. Johnson has since assured us that he is still in talks with Lucasfilm about the project, but nothing else surfaced since the inaugural announcement.
With a Knives Out sequel on the way, its unsure if the film will further affect plans for his Star Wars trilogy. Given the critical and financial success of Knives Out, it’s not a surprise that the studio’s moving forward with a sequel.
A brand new Star Wars trilogy from the mind of Rian Johnson could be well worth waiting for.
