Warner Brothers attempts at creating a DC Comics superhero cinematic universe started off rocky. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (theatrical edition) and Justice League didn’t go over well with critics or fans. The same goes for the Suicide Squad due to studio interference.
On the smaller screen, DC is doing better with their live-action shows and animation movies. This comes down to several reasons: there’s less interference and they loosely adapt from the source material.
It isn’t all doom and gloom for DC Movies as they’re improving critically with Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Shazam, Joker, and Harley Quinn: Birds of Prey. However, if they are wanting this success to continue they should look to the source material.
DC Comics is rich with some of the mediums greatest stories and it’s there the studio should be adapting from.
