DCEU: 5 Reasons to be Hyped for the future of DC Movies

SHAZAM! (2019)

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam, courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them!

Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.

The original Captain Marvel is coming to the big screen. Long before Carol Danvers in Marvel Comics, there was Billy Batson/Captain Marvel who was later renamed Shazam.

Shazam! will be directed by another director known for horror movies, David. F Sandberg. Known geek Zachary Levi portrays the title character while Asher Angel portrays his human form, Billy Batson.

While Shazam! isn’t known to the general audience, there is plenty of time for that to change. The first official trailer for the movie at San Diego Comic-Con this year. With the buzz surrounding the film and positive word of mouth, the general audience may embrace Shazam!. Shazam! looks to be a superhero version of the movie Big.

The trailer has a tone different from any DC movie before it, Shazam! looks funny. It looks hopeful and the opposite of the other movies. This pushes the DC movies closer to the mystical side of the universe.

While it is exciting to think of Aquaman and Shazam! hitting theaters, DC has one more saving grace coming soon.
