Spider-Man: Jumping from the Page to the Screen

Spider-Girl

Earth-982 sees a Peter Parker who married Mary-Jane Watson and had two kids with her. His eldest is May ‘Mayday’ Parker who takes on the mantle of Spider-Girl before the untimely death of her father. Then, she becomes Spider-Woman.

May’s powers appear to have come from her genetics. Since her father is Spider-Man, it looks like he passes it on. Her powers first develop when she’s 15 and her parents try their best to keep her out of trouble.

Unfortunately, a time comes when her father is murdered and all she wants is revenge. It drives her down a dark path where she fights with other Spider-Men and declares she only wants to kill the ones responsible.

But May is her father’s daughter, and she learns to not be controlled by vengeance. She steps up to become Spider-Woman in his memory, while fighting crime with her mother, Mary-Jane, also known as Spinette.

May Parker is another good candidate for Spider-Verse but I can’t see her working in the Insomniac universe. Not unless they go into the multiverse or do a time travel story. However, that seems unlikely at this point.

The same can be said for live-action. The current iteration of Spider-Man is still a teenager and it’d be weird to see a child of his, even if she is from the future. But, there is a Spider-Woman movie in the works by Olivia Cooke.

She could be in that, but it’s looking more likely Jessica Drew will get her live-action debut in the movie.
