Spider-Man: Jumping from the Page to the Screen

Bonus

I know I said I wouldn’t mention a certain Spider character since she’s already in animation. However, this is someone I really want to see come to live-action, so she’s being added. That character is, of course, Earth-65’s Gwen Stacy, Spider-Gwen/Ghost-Spider.

Gwen Stacy has had two live-action appearances, but those are non Spider-Woman versions. Bryce Dallas Howard and Emma Stone portrayed different versions in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 1 & 2 respectively.

In animation, she is famously voiced by Dove Cameron in several series and Hailee Steinfeld in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Hailee is coming to live-action Marvel but not as Gwen Stacy. She is portraying Kate Bishop in the Disney+ series Hawkeye.

While Gwen is increasing in popularity, there’s no better time than to bring her onto the big screen. Even if she isn’t in the Spider-Man universe of the MCU, and remains only in the Sony version, it’d still be nice to see her.

If the deal continues between Sony and Marvel they can use the multiverse to bring her into the MCU.

Since we’re on the subject of live-action, here are some ideas for who could play her. My two suggestions are Anya Taylor-Joy and Emma Louise Webb. Anya has been in comic book movies before with her most recent being The New Mutants. Anya’s popularity is rising due to the Netflix show The Queen’s Gambit.

Emma is also rising in popularity thanks to the worldwide success of the horror Host. Spider-Gwen is a character Emma has expressed interest in playing and her fans have created mock-ups of what she could look like as the character.

Let’s hope one day we’ll get to see Gwen Stacy’s super alter-ego come to the big screen.
