Peter Jackson’s masterpiece sits in the top position. The Lord of the Rings has the highest average IMDB rating at 8.8/10 for the trilogy. It is also the most consistent scorer amongst its individual films. They scored 366, 364 and 362 respectively.
So, what makes The Lord of the Rings so amazing? It is a combination of skills that makes the trilogy successful. Is it the perfect director, paired with an A-list costume and special effects department (WETA)? Was it all in the vision of a young writer with a penchant for linguistics? You can’t talk about LOTR without mentioning the brilliant cast either.
It is all of these things that make The Lord of the Rings easily take first place. You pair that with near-perfect scores, and LOTR deserves to have the top spot on this list. The trilogy-marker torch was well and truly handed over upon its release.
